So, I got one of these to put an iPad 2 (with the magnetic cover attached) up in the kitchen. It works very well, and so I got another one to for an iPhone 5 (with a plastic AmzBasics case). Also works very well. Simple, says what it does, does what it says, easy to install, easy to remove (based on the Command tape, which comes included). Definitely will hold an iPad 2 as a solid shelf. Once you allow the Command tape to set, you can really pull at these things and they won't budge.
Bought this mount for my ASUS transformer tablet so I could place it on the wall as I charged it. It's very easy to install and works like a charm. I like the fact that it fits many different tablets and smartphones. Haven't had any issues with the weight of the tablet; it is well supported. As for the "damage-free" part, I cannot attest to it because I have not yet had to remove this mount. When I do, i'll update my review. Overall, excellent product.
